Back in February on our San Fransisco book signing trip (that went so well!), we were invited to visit at CrashPad! Basically, they’re our favorite pornography-makers. You might have read our review we made of them a few years back. Well, the site’s been updated and they’ve continued to make amazing porn. We still LOVE it. We were so incredibly honored to visit and sit in on some shoots.
We can’t recommend their diverse, sexy content enough. Get yourself a subscription already.
As our review suggests, it wasn’t just sexy. Being on set, seeing these humans connect sexually, it was amazing. We walked away feeling something good we’ve had difficulty describing in words.
For those of you who are more interested. Here are some of my (Matthew’s) notes from the day:
– After telling Erika to slow down on our way to the studio, ‘I don’t want to be late to my first porno!’
– Introduction and coffee morning meeting was involved but important to build cast and crew relations. Everyone became a unit. Boss Shine kept it light and jovial but professional.
– Actors have conversations about what the want to do and their safe sex practices before shoot.
– I wonder if they are able to remove the photo clicking noise made from the SLR?! Is a photographer important? Why not just film stills?
— Answer YES! It’s not so hard to remove the sound and using photos is WAY better than screen caps from the film!– Interesting that Ruckus, tattooed as he is, gets typecast all the time for switch reversal stuff.
– Lots of laughing pauses. Retakes. This is fun. Laughing is contagious!
– It’s fun seeing humans have sex.
– Sex noises… Pretty darn hot!
– When the scene gets heavy, the atmosphere changes! More intense.
– The mistakes and human moments when lube slips, really fun. It’s stuff that doesn’t normally make the edited version. But makes it human!
– Strenuous hard work!
– Post interview, super cool. Two real people talking to each other.
— Did you enjoy it?
— Was there anything challenging?
— What are your safe sex practices and why?
— Why do you continue to do porn?– Heard Andre say ‘Different styles at different companies’, implying she likes CrashPad’s style.
– Overheard (maybe Q?) about making porn: “It’s fun cause it’s the safest sex work you can do!”
– Aja (second videographer), when asked how she got her start in porn: “I got into porn at the same time as I came out— it’s been magical. It’s been quite a development, documenting everyone’s transformation. The first time I saw another trans woman fucking was on set and I was like… it was awesome, it was a transformative experience.”
– The set’s actually quiet dark! How come?!?
— Just the way Shine likes it!– Actors and actresses bring different styles n personality. It’s really all about them.
– Chris (Web Guru), on how working at CrashPad has changed them: “When I started here, I thought I was a cis het guy and it wasn’t until I saw other options that I realized I could be anything else.”
– At the end of their shoot, Viverosity and Q just beaming at each other. Q pats a laughing, trembling Viv on the belly and asks how she’s doing.
